The party's over

[18] What doth the graven thing avail, because the maker thereof hath graven it, a molten, and a false image? because the forger thereof hath trusted in a thing of his own forging, to make dumb idols. [19] Woe to him that saith to wood: Awake: to the dumb stone: Arise: can it teach? Behold, it is laid over with gold, and silver, and there is no spirit in the bowels thereof. [20] But the Lord is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him.
 -- Prophecy Of Habacuc 2:18-20
I just got back from a big night at the ballpark. The whole evening was charged with a carnival-like atmosphere. There was loud music that stirred up the emotions. There was a whole environment of excitement that was created around the event.

As I participated in this secular extravaganza, I began to think that I was missing something because my normal idea of fun is to engage in lively conversation with fellow Catholics after Mass.

And then I got home and felt that familiar empty, sinking feeling....

I began wondering what purpose such an existence could have.... in the past this would have led to a mild depression unless I was able to quickly join in another party-style event. Eventually, I would have to return to the echoing silence of solitude. In order to avoid this empty solitude society provides us with endless TV, Radio and movie entertainment. And for the those not satisfied with these choices there is alcohol, drugs and promiscuous sex.

Everything and anything to drown out the silence of solitude. It is in this silence that God calls to us. And if we accept Gods call then we find no need for the party-party, go-go, pleasure-seeking life. We find everything we need in God's love.

Christians in the Middle East unanimously oppose potential raid on Syria

[14] But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you. [15] But the author of life you killed, whom God hath raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses.

[16] And in the faith of his name, this man, whom you have seen and known, hath his name strengthened; and the faith which is by him, hath given this perfect soundness in the sight of you all. [17] And now, brethren, I know that you did it through ignorance, as did also your rulers. [18] But those things which God before had shewed by the mouth of all the prophets, that his Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled. [19] Be penitent, therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out. [20] That when the times of refreshment shall come from the presence of the Lord, and he shall send him who hath been preached unto you, Jesus Christ,

[21] Whom heaven indeed must receive, until the times of the restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of his holy prophets, from the beginning of the world.

-- The Acts Of The Apostles 3:14-21

Obama continues with his best anti-Christ impersonation. Christians are being purged from the Middle East. This is the Holy Land of Jesus, the Apostles and the early Church.

From "Christians in the Middle East unanimously oppose potential raid on Syria".
Chaldean Patriarch Louis Raphael Sako in Baghdad, also spoke of a potential “disaster”. The US-led military intervention against Syria would be "a disaster. It would be like a volcano erupting with an explosion meant to destroy Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine. And maybe someone wants this," he said to Fides news agency.  The Chaldean Patriarch referred to his own country as an example: "After 10 years of the so-called 'coalition of the willing', that overthrew Saddam our Country is still battered by bombs, security problems, by the instability of the economic crisis."

Pray for the soul of Miley Cyrus

And Mary said: My soul doth magnify the Lord.
 -- Luke 1:46
I'm sad to say that the Public Vigil blog must go back to its roots to condemn the latest barbarities regarding Miley Cyrus. I'm no longer a fan of the Vigilant Citizen website, but they have summed up the latest news very well.
While mass media backlash against Miley Cyrus is solely directed at Miley Cyrus, the big picture is completely being missed (or ignored). If “observers” and “critics” took their faces out of her bony behind and took a step back, they would maybe see what is truly happening: Miley Cyrus is, more than ever, owned and controlled by an enormous machine. Her image, her music and her performance is fully determined by her handlers. For some sick reason, she was chosen this year to embarrass herself and to traumatize all of the young people who grew up watching her. Miley was offered as a “sacrifice” to the public while adding to the complete breakdown of popular culture. Her performance was choreographed and staged to be as annoying and distasteful as possible. From the bratty hair, to the unflattering outfit, to the constant sticking out of the tongue, to the obsession with “twerking” without having the physical attributes to pull it off … it was all planned to piss the world off.

While the masses are laughing and pointing at Miley Cyrus, those who handle her are laughing and pointing at the masses … because they’re falling right into this sick humiliation process. While I am not looking to add to the Miley Cyrus noise, someone needs to say it: She’s a puppet and we need to look at those who are pulling the strings. We also need to look at what they are doing to people such as Miley Cyrus and, more importantly, to our youth in general. This is not about a single girl who lost her way, it is about a system making the world lose its way.
The reason I don't need Vigilant Citizen anymore is because... I don't watch TV/Cable, I don't watch movies, I don't listen to the radio. So I have  eliminated the source of all that diabolical cultural garbage.

In addition, I don't watch the mainstream news or visit mainstream internet news sites. I get all the news I need from Catholic and pro-life websites. Two of the best are LifeSiteNews and Michael Voris. Even most Catholic news sites are so influenced by the dominant secular humanist / liberal / atheist / socialist / progressive culture that they are not worth reading. Vatican II has led most of the Church into apostasy. That's a fact. While the Church should be engaged in an eternal no-holds barred death fight with the diabolical spirit that is behind all of this perversity, most of the Church leadership has knowingly or unknowingly sold out.

In April 2010 I wrote:
"Its part of introducing Miley to an older (college kids/young pros) crowd in preparation for her transition to adult soft-porn star like the rest of the Disney child-harem."
It's not that I am a prophet, it's just an obvious pattern. Only those who insist on denying the truth -- those who are spiritually blind -- can avoid seeing what is happening in our culture. Only Christ can restore the eyesight to the spiritually blind.

Disney was never a source of good in society. It was always 100% secular. It never presented a Christian theme. It just got progressively more amoral. It always represented a secular humanist perspective. It was never good for children. Only now, it is obviously worse.

Disney deliberately sets up these child stars to be turned into secular humanist heroes/saints. They are fully intended to become the secular "role models" for our children.

As Christians and Catholics our only role models should be the saints. All the other popular celebrities are created by the culture to divert our attention and to pull us away from the will of God, which is for all of us to be saints. Being a saint simply means living your life with the only goal of getting to heaven. What else matters?

Please pray for Miley and for all those who are slaves of this diabolical culture. Not just the celebrities, but especially all of us who look to them with a mistaken admiration and respect. We need to turn to the saints, the angels, the blessed Mother of God and her child Jesus.
St. Michael, pray for us.
Immaculate Heart of Mary, show us the way to Jesus.
Blessed virgin Mary, ever most pure, pray for us.

The Vatican's timid response to Muslim attacks on Christians

[15] But if thy brother shall offend against thee, go, and rebuke him between thee and him alone. If he shall hear thee, thou shalt gain thy brother. [16] And if he will not hear thee, take with thee one or two more: that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may stand. [17] And if he will not hear them: tell the church. And if he will not hear the church, let him be to thee as the heathen and publican.
-- Gospel According to Saint Matthew 18:15-17
Take your choice:

1. The Vatican fiddles while Christian churches go up in flames in Egypt.

2. Vatican calls for prayers of peace in response to "Pogrom" against Christians in Egypt.

3. "Kristallnacht" against Christian churches in Egypt is virtually ignored by Vatican in order to preserve the false "ecumenism" of Vatican II.

And when I refer to the Vatican, I am specifically referring to Pope Francis. If these attacks were perpetrated against Jews or Muslims he would be one of the loudest voices speaking out, but he dares not forcefully defend Christians?

As a Catholic, I am bitterly disappointed and disheartened by this reaction of the Church leadership. The pre-Vatican II popes would have forcefully denounced this persecution of Christians by Muslims. And we must not forget the active roles of the United States and Israel in creating the state of anarchy in Egypt that allows this to happen.

It is past time to stop apologizing for the violence of Muslims against Christians and to uncategorically denounce these acts of hatred.

Muslims threaten to kill all Christians in Minya, Egypt

[13] And after they were departed, behold an angel of the Lord appeared in sleep to Joseph, saying: Arise, and take the child and his mother, and fly into Egypt: and be there until I shall tell thee. For it will come to pass that Herod will seek the child to destroy him. [14] Who arose, and took the child and his mother by night, and retired into Egypt: and he was there until the death of Herod: [15] That it might be fulfilled which the Lord spoke by the prophet, saying: Out of Egypt have I called my son.
-- Gospel According to Saint Matthew 2:13-15
This account is taken directly from the "Protect The Pope" website. My apologies to Deacon Nick, but this story is too important for me to try to summarize.

------

Islamists warn from mosque minarets that Christians must leave Minya before Friday or they will all be killed
Copt twitter sites are reporting that Islamists have today issued warnings from mosque minarets that Christians must leave Minya before Friday or they will all be killed. This follows Christian homes and businesses being marked with black X’s and Muslim ones with red X’s. Mid East Christian News is reporting that Muslims have looted and burned eight houses owned by Copts in the village of Saft el-Laban, Minya.
The Copt twitter sites are characterizing the terror under which they are living in upper Egypt as ethnic cleansing. Coptic Nationalism has tweeted, ‘Seriously, the calls of ethnic cleansing of Copts are being raised right now from the minarets of mosques in z village of Dilja, Upper Egypt.’ The Islamists are ethnically cleansing Coptic Christians from villages in Upper Egypt. The WH spokesperson laughs at that.
This refers to a press briefing by a White House spokesman that made light of the killing of Egyptian Christians:
‘The White House’s deputy press secretary today downplayed Muslim attacks on Christians in Egypt, joking about the savagery  that has left at least six Christians dead.
Press secretary Josh Earnest was asked by Fox News’ correspondent, Ed Henry, if President Barack Obama has a “red line” beyond which he would act against Muslim attacks on Egyptian Christians.
“Well, I didn’t bring my red pen out with me today,” Earnest joked.
After making his joke, Earnest said the administration is “outraged… and concerned” about the Muslim attacks on almost 100 churches, monasteries, orphanages and other marked Christian sites. Many Christians’ shops and homes have also been looted and burned by mobs.
But Earnest didn’t name or criticize the attackers, even though he did charge the military with perpetrating “violence… against peaceful protestors.”
Protect the Pope comment: Now that the attention of the world’s media is turned to the alleged chemical attack in Syria, the Muslim Brotherhood  and Al-Qaeda will have the media blackout they need to carry out their threat of ethnically cleansing the Christians from the region of Minya. The Christian blogosphere must continue to watch events in Egypt, so that the Islamists know that the world is watching them, and that they will be held accountable for the terror Egypt’s Christians are suffering at their hands.

Christian churches, schools, institutions, shops torched by the Muslims in Egypt

[7] And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast, that ascendeth out of the abyss, shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them. [8] And their bodies shall lie in the streets of the great city, which is called spiritually, Sodom and Egypt, where their Lord also was crucified. [9] And they of the tribes, and peoples, and tongues, and nations, shall see their bodies for three days and a half: and they shall not suffer their bodies to be laid in sepulchres. [10] And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry: and shall send gifts one to another, because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt upon the earth.

The errors of Vatican II

[2] The kingdom of heaven is likened to a king, who made a marriage for his son. [3] And he sent his servants, to call them that were invited to the marriage; and they would not come. [4] Again he sent other servants, saying: Tell them that were invited, Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my calves and fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come ye to the marriage. [5] But they neglected, and went their own ways, one to his farm, and another to his merchandise.

[6] And the rest laid hands on his servants, and having treated them contumeliously, put them to death. [7] But when the king had heard of it, he was angry, and sending his armies, he destroyed those murderers, and burnt their city. [8] Then he saith to his servants: The marriage indeed is ready; but they that were invited were not worthy. [9] Go ye therefore into the highways; and as many as you shall find, call to the marriage. [10] And his servants going forth into the ways, gathered together all that they found, both bad and good: and the marriage was filled with guests.

[11] And the king went in to see the guests: and he saw there a man who had not on a wedding garment. [12] And he saith to him: Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? But he was silent. [13] Then the king said to the waiters: Bind his hands and feet, and cast him into the exterior darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. [14] For many are called, but few are chosen.

-- Gospel According to Saint Matthew 22:2-14
If you want to fully understand the errors of Vatican II than you must turn to those who have the most at stake in understanding and exposing those errors. It is of no use to turn to those who are to one extent or another bound to defend Vatican II. Nor should we turn to those enemies of the Church who lose no opportunity to harm her.

No, we must turn to those who in their love for the Church have chosen a hard path of separation. These are the sedevacantists.  And so I ask that you carefully consider the arguments offered in the following 3 hour discussion of the errors of Vatican II. One of the main arguments is that the changes initiated by Vatican II were intended to blur the lines between the Catholic Church and other Christian churches in a false spirit of ecumenism. Even Catholic teachings that were centuries old and which had always been declared infallible were sacrificed in order to achieve the ecumenical goals of the architects of the Council.

In 1794 Pope Pius VI (NOT Paul VI) condemned the teachings of a local council of bishops which taught some similar heresies and used similar ambiguous language to obscure their true intentions. The document is titled "Auctorem Fidei" and it was written in response to the heretical "Synod of Pistoia" of 1786.

It is important to note the historical context of these events. It was during the time of the masonic French Revolution. Later, in February of 1798, Napoleon's forces would invade the Papal States and take Pope Pius VI prisoner. He died in captivity in March of 1799.
-- From introduction of Auctorem Fidei (1794)

They [our most holy predecessors] knew the capacity of innovators in the art of deception. In order not to shock the ears of Catholics, the innovators sought to hide the subtleties of their tortuous maneuvers by the use of seemingly innocuous words7 such as would allow them to insinuate error into souls in the most gentle manner. Once the truth had been compromised, they could, by means of slight changes or additions in phraseology, distort the confession of the faith that is necessary for our salvation, and lead the faithful by subtle errors to their eternal damnation. This manner of dissimulating and lying is vicious, regardless of the circumstances under which it is used. For very good reasons it can never be tolerated in a synod of which the principal glory consists above all in teaching the truth with clarity and excluding all danger of error.

Moreover, if all this is sinful, it cannot be excused in the way that one sees it being done, under the erroneous pretext that the seemingly shocking affirmations in one place are further developed along orthodox lines in other places, and even in yet other places corrected; as if allowing for the possibility of either affirming or denying the statement, or of leaving it up the personal inclinations of the individual – such has always been the fraudulent and daring method used by innovators to establish error. It allows for both the possibility of promoting error and of excusing it.

It is as if the innovators pretended that they always intended to present the alternative passages, especially to those of simple faith who eventually come to know only some part of the conclusions of such discussions, which are published in the common language for everyone's use. Or again, as if the same faithful had the ability on examining such documents to judge such matters for themselves without getting confused and avoiding all risk of error. It is a most reprehensible technique for the insinuation of doctrinal errors and one condemned long ago by our predecessor St. Celestine8 who found it used in the writings of Nestorius, bishop of Constantinople, and which he exposed in order to condemn it with the greatest possible severity. Once these texts were examined carefully, the impostor was exposed and confounded, for he expressed himself in a plethora of words, mixing true things with others that were obscure; mixing at times one with the other in such a way that he was also able to confess those things which were denied while at the same time possessing a basis for denying those very sentences which he confessed.

In order to expose such snares, something which becomes necessary with a certain frequency in every century, no other method is required than the following: Whenever it becomes necessary to expose statements that disguise some suspected error or danger under the veil of ambiguity, one must denounce the perverse meaning under which the error opposed to Catholic truth is camouflaged.

In 1949,  Pope Pius XII had the remains of Pius VI moved to the Chapel of the Madonna below St. Peter's in the Papal Grotto. His remains were placed in an ancient marble sarcophagus. The inscription on the wall above the container reads:

"The mortal remains of Pius VI, consumed in unjust exile, by order of Pius XII are placed in this dignified and decorous location, illustrious for art and history, in 1949".

God answers prayers

Is any man sick among you? Let him bring in the priests of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. [15] And the prayer of faith shall save the sick man: and the Lord shall raise him up: and if he be in sins, they shall be forgiven him.

I had Mass in Ewing MO as the regular priest was sick. As I was returning, I arrived at the scene. The authorities were redirecting traffic. I waited till it was possible to drive up closer. I parked behind a large vehicle about 150 yards from the scene. I asked the Sheriff’s permission and approached the scene of the accident. I absolved and anointed Katie, and, at her request, prayed that her leg would not hurt. Then I stepped aside to where some rescue personnel and the pilot were waiting, and prayed the rosary silently. I left when the helicopter was about to take off, and before I got to my car it was on its way to Quincy. I was amazed at the calmness of the two Highway patrol men. The sergeant was completely in control, amazingly calm. Everybody worked as harmoniously as a Swiss watch despite the critical nature of the scene. I gave my name to one of the authorities, perhaps to the sergeant of Highway Patrol, explaining that I was returning having celebrated Mass at Ewing. It was the sergeant who, at the Sheriff’s request, gave me Katie’s name as I was leaving, so I could visit her in hospital—I assumed she would be taken to Columbia. I think there may have been angels there too and, in this context, I congratulate the fire team from New London and Hannibal, the Sheriff/deputies of Ralls County, the Highway Patrol personnel, the helicopter team, the nurses and all who worked so professionally. God has blessed your work. I hope the credit goes where it is due.

Behold an angel of the Lord

[5] Peter therefore was kept in prison. But prayer was made without ceasing by the church unto God for him. [6] And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.
[7] And behold an angel of the Lord stood by him: and a light shined in the room: and he striking Peter on the side, raised him up, saying: Arise quickly. And the chains fell off from his hands. [8] And the angel said to him: Gird thyself, and put on thy sandals. And he did so. And he said to him: Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me. [9] And going out, he followed him, and he knew not that it was true which was done by the angel: but thought he saw a vision. [10] And passing through the first and the second ward, they came to the iron gate that leadeth to the city, which of itself opened to them. And going out, they passed on through one street: and immediately the angel departed from him.

Where is Peter?

In the dispensation of the fulness of times, to re-establish all things in Christ, that are in heaven and on earth, in him.
-- Epistle Of Saint Paul To The Ephesians Ch 1:10

When Christ was crucified on Mt. Calvary, the Church lived through its darkest time. It seemed like the end of the world. But we know how the story ends.
[14] At length he appeared to the eleven as they were at table: and he upbraided them with their incredulity and hardness of heart, because they did not believe them who had seen him after he was risen again. [15] And he said to them: Go ye into the whole world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

[16] He that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved: but he that believeth not shall be condemned. [17] And these signs shall follow them that believe: In my name they shall cast out devils: they shall speak with new tongues. [18] They shall take up serpents; and if they shall drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them: they shall lay their hands upon the sick, and they shall recover. [19] And the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God. [20] But they going forth preached everywhere: the Lord working withal, and confirming the word with signs that followed.

-- Gospel According to Saint Mark 16:14-20
But for a short time in the beginning, the Church was without a head. Simon Peter, the rock, was nowhere to be found.

At the foot of the Cross was Mary, the Immaculate Virgin. And Christ entrusted his beloved disciple John into her care.

And so today Peter is nowhere to be found and we must turn to Mary.

Next Thursday we celebrate the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The following Thursday we dedicate to the Our Lady, Queen of the World.

Now more than ever we must turn to Our Lady and she will guide us through this storm.

Through her intercession we will cast out the devils from the Church. And we shall speak the Truth with new tongues. We will defeat the serpents which have nearly conquered the world. And even when we drink the poison of this blasphemous culture it shall not harm us. And we will lay our hands upon our spiritually sick brethren and they shall recover.

And we will once again go forth and preach the Gospel everywhere which will be confirmed with signs.

And seeing these signs Peter will regain his faith and once again feed the Lord's sheep and lambs.

Pope St. Pius X
The papal motto of Pius X was Instaurare Omnia in Christo, or "to restore all things in Christ."

We must therefore seek not to "reform" the Church. Our mission must be to restore the Church.

The following is from the first encyclical of Pope Pius X in 1903 which was titled "ON THE RESTORATION OF ALL THINGS IN CHRIST".
4. We are resolved to spend all Our strength and Our very life. Hence, should anyone ask Us for a symbol as the expression of Our will, We will give this and no other: "To renew all things in Christ." In undertaking this glorious task, We are greatly quickened by the certainty that We shall have all of you, Venerable Brethren, as generous co-operators. Did We doubt it We should have to regard you, unjustly, as either unconscious or heedless of that sacrilegious war which is now, almost everywhere, stirred up and fomented against God. For in truth, "The nations have raged and the peoples imagined vain things" (Ps. ii., 1.) against their Creator, so frequent is the cry of the enemies of God: "Depart from us" (Job. xxi., 14). And as might be expected we find extinguished among the majority of men all respect for the Eternal God, and no regard paid in the manifestations of public and private life to the Supreme Will -- nay, every effort and every artifice is used to destroy utterly the memory and the knowledge of God.

5. When all this is considered there is good reason to fear lest this great perversity may be as it were a foretaste, and perhaps the beginning of those evils which are reserved for the last days; and that there may be already in the world the "Son of Perdition" of whom the Apostle speaks (II. Thess. ii., 3). Such, in truth, is the audacity and the wrath employed everywhere in persecuting religion, in combating the dogmas of the faith, in brazen effort to uproot and destroy all relations between man and the Divinity! While, on the other hand, and this according to the same apostle is the distinguishing mark of Antichrist, man has with infinite temerity put himself in the place of God, raising himself above all that is called God; in such wise that although he cannot utterly extinguish in himself all knowledge of God, he has contemned God's majesty and, as it were, made of the universe a temple wherein he himself is to be adored. "He sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself as if he were God" (II. Thess. ii., 2).

6. Verily no one of sound mind can doubt the issue of this contest between man and the Most High. Man, abusing his liberty, can violate the right and the majesty of the Creator of the Universe; but the victory will ever be with God -- nay, defeat is at hand at the moment when man, under the delusion of his triumph, rises up with most audacity. Of this we are assured in the holy books by God Himself. Unmindful, as it were, of His strength and greatness, He "overlooks the sins of men" (Wisd. xi., 24), but swiftly, after these apparent retreats, "awaked like a mighty man that hath been surfeited with wine" (Ps. Ixxvii., 65), "He shall break the heads of his enemies" (Ps. Ixvii., 22), that all may know "that God is the king of all the earth" (Ib. Ixvi., 8), "that the Gentiles may know themselves to be men' (Ib. ix., 20).

7. All this, Venerable Brethren, We believe and expect with unshakable faith. But this does not prevent us also, according to the measure given to each, from exerting ourselves to hasten the work of God -- and not merely by praying assiduously: "Arise, O Lord, let not man be strengthened" (Ib. ix., 19), but, more important still, by affirming both by word and deed and in the light of day, God's supreme dominion over man and all things, so that His right to command and His authority may be fully realized and respected. This is imposed upon us not only as a natural duty, but by our common interest.

Tu es Petrus

Thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose upon earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven.
 -- Matthew 16:18-19

Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina: "Tu es Petrus" (1585)

Tu es Petrus, et super hanc petram
Aedificabo Ecclesiam meam,
Et portae inferi non praevalebunt adversus eam:
Et tibi dabo claves
Regni coelorum.
Quodcumque ligaveris super terram,
Erit ligatum et in coelis;
Et quodcumque solveris super terram
Erit solutum et in coelis.
