[This post is dedicated to Daniel and others who suggested the movie Gattaca as a topic for an article.]
Blame it on Daniel :)
[WARNING: Spoilers ahead]
Here is Daniel's comment.
Yup, Baba and LVB, you've got to watch Gattaca.I thought I had offered a fairly complete reply to Daniel in my comments, but as it turns out I had missed a huge part of the story which is actually the part that Daniel was hinting at. Here are my previous comments.
Interestingly, the name of one of the characters (who's the 'genetically superior' dude, but confined to a wheelchair after an accident), is: Jerome Eugene Morrow ... reminds me of 'genome ... eugenics ... tomorrow'.
In Gattaca, the 'perfect gene' people are mostly portrayed as 'tall, blond, blue-eyed, flawless-skinned' Caucasians ...
... in fact, I don't remember seeing a single black, hispanic, chinese or other race being portrayed as one of the 'perfect people ... I'd have to watch it again to make sure.
Also note that the non-perfect humans (those conceived without genetic selection) are referred to as 'God's child' ...
See here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eP-aVYuVVBE&feature=related
... so those humans that were genetically selected & modified are what ...? Satan's spawns ... ?
Hope you can review this film and comment on it.
Thanks.
Comment 1.
I also want to mention to Daniel, Lenci and others that I saw Gattaca a few nights ago. It's a very good movie. I highly recommend it. It does have elements of Brave New World which I'm going to begin re-reading (actually listening to on a audio book).Comment 2.
The thing about this type of movie is that I believe that what Hollywood is doing is creating an anti-thesis. In other words it is a film (or book) advocating the thing that it appears to be criticizing. I don't trust Hollywood to warn us about the future transhuman society. I think this is similar to Terminator where we are "warned" of the transhuman future, but one of the "good guys" is a transhuman.
In the case of Gattaca, I think it is much more subtle. First of all it is an exercise in pre-conditioning. But that's not the subtle part.
The subtle part is that the crippled Elite guy symbolically uploads himself into the body of the godchild. The godchild is "transformed" into the Elite guy. As I said it is done symbolically and not literally. And in the end this Elite in his new body is launched into space to spread his DNA to other planets. This is also part of the transhuman dream.
Still, as I said, this is a very wonderfully produced movie. I enjoyed the retro-future style. (A bit of cog-diss I suppose.) The acting is very good. It's one of a few movies these days that does not rely heavily on action to propel the plot.
Overall the tone of the movie is, "Yes, there's going to be a transhuman future, but don't worry too much about it. It will turn out to be OK. Anyway, even if it makes you feel uncomfortable now. You'll get used to it and see that it's for the best. And if your very clever, you can still be a godchild and make it in this world with the help of some of us Elite good guys. And if not, then you really don't deserve to succeed anyway. Now do you?"
P.S. The movie Gattaca does not really abandon the transhuman-eugenics-darwinian notion of "survival of the fittest". It just says that the technology is not always able to predetermine which are the fittest. It still affirms a rat-race, dog-eat-dog, meritocracy where Christian concepts such as charity, forgiveness and love are not part of society's values.God's child... Satan's spawn
What I missed and what probably almost everyone missed when they saw this movie is the diabolical element. The truth is that at its core, this is a movie about demonic possession.
Yes, Satan is present in this movie although the occultists would prefer to refer to him as Lucifer - the light bearer. The same Lucifer that is depicted as the Statue of Liberty. Oh come on, you already knew that so I'm not telling you anything knew.
If you have gotten this far, then either you have already seen the movie or you just don't care about spoilers. Suit yourself. You have one last chance to go see the movie first....
Who is the Elite in the wheel chair?
How is it possible that such a perfectly engineered specimen could have come in second place in a swimming competition? Do you remember the silver medal - not gold, but silver? Who do you suppose came in first place?
And how did this perfect man end up in a wheel chair? Do you really think it was from a car accident?
Why does he say to Vincent, "I got the better part of the deal"? What kind of "deal" was he referring to?
Why swimming? Have you heard any mention of the Age of Aquarius?
How did Vincent beat his genetically superior brother in a swimming competition? He said that he didn't save anything for the swim back. Then why didn't he drown while attempting to swim back?
What is the significance of the Elite fellow dragging himself up the stairs?
What does he mean when he tells Vincent that from now on you are me?
And finally what is the significance of the ending? Why does he burn himself up as the rocket ship carrying Vincent hurtles off into space?
There are many other questions which I will not explore involving the other characters because I want to concentrate on Eugene and Vincent. Of special importance of course is the character played by Uma Thurman - Irene Cassini. What is her role? But I will avoid these in order to stick to the main dualism of Vincent and Eugene.
I could also ask, what is the meaning of the name Gattaca? (Other than the GATC genetic base pairs.) It obviously bears some relationship to NASA and Cape Canaveral. But what it is exactly, I do not know. It does make you wonder what NASA meant by "the right stuff". Could that "stuff" have been genetic material as in Gattaca?
Answers please
Now that I have posed the riddles, allow me to offer my own answers.
Who is the Elite in the wheel chair?
As the Rolling Stones said: "Pleased to meet you. Hope you guessed my name." His name is Jerome Eugene Morrow and as Daniel already pointed out this bears a resemblance to Genome Eugenics Tomorrow. Please allow me to indulge myself and call him Eugene rather than Jerome in order to emphasize the role of eugenics in the film.
Eugene is the devil. Vincent Freeman makes a deal with the devil. Since he is a "free man", he is free to choose. (As we all are given free choice by God.) He chooses to sell his soul to the devil in order to achieve his dreams. The day he first won the swimming competition with his brother was the day he decided that he would give anything to get what he wanted.
How is it possible that such a perfectly engineered specimen could have come in second place in a swimming competition? Do you remember the silver medal - not gold, but silver? Who do you suppose came in first place?
The swimming competition was between the devil and God (or his angels). The devil lost and came in second place.
And how did this perfect man end up in a wheel chair? Do you really think it was from a car accident?
The devil was thrown out of heaven and fell to earth. When he crash landed on earth he lost the use of his limbs.
Why does he say to Vincent, "I got the better part of the deal"? What kind of "deal" was he referring to?
The deal is the "deal with the devil". Vincent got his dreams but lost his soul.
Why swimming? Have you heard any mention of the Age of Aquarius?
Aquarius is the water bearer. Lucifer is the light bearer. Aquarius is thought by some occult groups to represent Lucifer aka the devil. That is the significance of water in the movie. Notice how new age people have begun to refer to the Earth as the "water planet".
How did Vincent beat his genetically superior brother in a swimming competition? He said that he didn't save anything for the swim back. Then why didn't he drown while attempting to swim back?
Do you remember Vincent saying this to his brother?: "It's too late for that, we're closer to the other side." The "other side" he was referring to was not another shore. How could it be? They were swimming away from shore into the ocean. The "other side" was the dark side. He swam to the dark side which is of course the devil. The devil possessed him and gave him the strength which his body did not have to swim back to the shore. It was a "triumph of the will" as the Nazis would say. But who's will? It was indeed the will of the devil that triumphed.
What is the significance of the Elite fellow dragging himself up the stairs?
Remember that God turns the devil into a snake in Genesis and condemns him to crawl on his belly. The scene where Eugene drags himself up the stairs graphically depicts this.
What does he mean when he tells Vincent that from now on you are me?
The devil possesses Vincent. He robs him of his free will. He gradually takes more and more control over Vincent's body. The scene where the devil's blood flows directly in Vincent's vein is a major step in his possession.
And finally what is the significance of the ending? Why does he burn himself up as the rocket ship carrying Vincent hurtles off into space?
In the end the devil destroys his earthly body. He is now in total possession of Vincent and he's going back up into the heavens to do battle with God.
Why do this?
Now I have one last question - why does Hollywood do this? Why do they put in a satanic message where almost no one will catch it? In fact most people would get an opposite and positive message of Vincent triumphing over his own weaknesses.
There are powerful satanic forces at work here. Somehow they believe that their messages have to be delivered to the public. But they know that they cannot openly convey their occult messages. So they disguise them in a form that will not be recognized by the public. We are being fed hidden messages whose true meaning the satanic forces intend to reveal through some strange occult initiation rituals.
Don't bother. Now you know what those messages are. And once you understand the dark messages, you no longer need to fear them. You are walking in the light of the one true God. He will protect you from all evil. You just need to have a little faith - even faith the size of a mustard seed will do to move a mountain.
Revelation 12
Lately I keep coming back to Revelation 12. I had a dream in which the eugenics-transhuman movement was represented by a dragon. Then I happened to come across Revelation 12 and I understood the true meaning of my dream.
Always remember the words of the angel Gabriel to Mary: "Fear not, Mary, for you have found grace with God." And later Mary replied: "Behold the handmaid of the Lord: be it done to me according to your word."
Here is the complete text of Revelation 12. And in case there is any doubt, the woman referred to in Revelation 12 is Mary the mother of Jesus.
Revelation 12 (click to enlarge) |
And a great sign appeared in heaven: A woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. 2 And being with child, she cried travailing in birth: and was in pain to be delivered. 3 And there was seen another sign in heaven. And behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns and on his heads seven diadems. 4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven and cast them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to be delivered: that, when she should be delivered, he might devour her son. 5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with an iron rod. And her son was taken up to God and to his throne. 6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she had a place prepared by God, that there they should feed her, a thousand two hundred sixty days. You can see in this prophetic text the following themes:
7 And there was a great battle in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon, and the dragon fought, and his angels. 8 And they prevailed not: neither was their place found any more in heaven. 9 And that great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, who seduces the whole world. And he was cast unto the earth: and his angels were thrown down with him. 10 And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying: Now has come salvation and strength and the kingdom of our God and the power of his Christ: because the accuser of our brethren is cast forth, who accused them before our God day and night. 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of the testimony: and they loved not their lives unto death. 12 Therefore, rejoice, O heavens, and you that dwell therein. Woe to the earth and to the sea, because the devil has come down unto you, having great wrath, knowing that he has but a short time.
13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman who brought forth the man child. 14 And there were given to the woman two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the desert, unto her place, where she is nourished for a time and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent. 15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth, after the woman, water, as it were a river: that he might cause her to be carried away by the river. 16 And the earth helped the woman: and the earth opened her mouth and swallowed up the river which the dragon cast out of his mouth. 17 And the dragon was angry against the woman: and went to make war with the rest of her seed, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. 18 And he stood upon the sand of the sea.
- Eugenics in terms of the dragon waiting to kill the unborn child.
- The dragon (devil) cast out of heaven by St. Michael and the other angels.
- The Age of Aquarius in terms of the serpent trying to drown the woman in a river of water.
The association in Aquarius is that of the servant of humanity pouring out the water of knowledge to quench the thirst of the world.Who is "the servant of humanity"? And what is "the thirst of the world"? In Revelation, it is the serpent which is the servant of humanity. The "thirst of the world" could easily refer to the "sexual revolution" which has been promoted by the eugenics-transhuman movement. But in Revelation, the Earth comes to the rescue of the woman and swallows up the river.
For a totally contrasting review of Gattaca which interprets it as a Christian movie see this:
ReplyDeletehttp://faculty.trevecca.edu/mkarounos/Writings/Gattaca%20and%20a%20Theory%20of%20Christiam%20Film%20Criticism.pdf
Sorry about the PDF format. Here's a quote from the review.
========
At the beginning of the narration, Vincent is studying a text called Celestial Navigation. He tells an underground broker of genetic disguises that it’s an “old” edition but that he knows it by heart. The broker, a kind of evangelist who holds what appears to be a zippered Bible, looks at him skeptically and muses: “By heart...that’ll get you halfway there.” When he opens his leather book, it is seen to contain several vials of blood. The idea of "perfect" blood as a redemptive agent being pulled out of a "sacred" book is rife with Christian overtones: it transcends the science-based study of laws as represented by the “old” testament of the “old” science. The only way to the stars in Gattaca, as well as here, is through the blood.
========
I think he makes some great points, its just that I think that his perspective is completely wrong. In my opinion, he got the whole movie backwards. Which is of course what the satanic forces strive to do. Which is to deceive.
P.S. By "heart" will get you halfway there. The other half which is missing is the soul. He must sell his heart and soul to the devil.
ReplyDeleteGreat post baba!
ReplyDeleteThe bloodlines of the elite ruling class are awfully important to them, as well, and have been throughout history; i.e., selective breeding and/or inbreeding.
Isn't it peculiar how this practice is ridiculed as the lowest form of ignorance and sickness in one context, yet it is exactly what the nobility (Royals) of our world have done for centuries?
LOL
baba
ReplyDeleteAdditionally, your use of the common phrase, "You'll get used to it", is quite profound, as it is a very precise and exact description of the larger, more cumbersome word: DESENSITIZATION.
There are some things that we should never allow ourselves to "get used to", thereby accepting them as "normal", or "ok".
LVB - Yeah well, that's because they misunderstood the way that genetics really works. Isn't it wonderful that nature takes its revenge on their practice of trying to monopolize all the power and wealth for themselves. And even now with our greatly increased knowledge of genetics, I still would not trust a bunch of scientists to know how to select the "best" genes. Never mind playing around with different species like they are already doing with the food supplies.
ReplyDeleteLVB - That particular use of "you'll get used to it" refers to a comment by Bill Joy, who is a famous critic of the Singularity proponents. He wrote an article titled "Why the future doesn't need us". This article has become quite famous and argues that if technology continues unchecked then we will have a Terminator type situation.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.wired.com/wired/archive/8.04/joy.html
In the article Bill Joy says he went to talk to his friend Danny Hillis about his concerns. Danny is one of the pioneers in computer science. He founded a company called "Thinking Machines" back in the 1980s. And here is what Danny said to Bill: "He said, simply, that the changes would come gradually, and that we would get used to them."
This is sometimes referred to as the "boiling frogs" scenario. As the water gets gradually warmer, the frogs don't realize it. Until it's too late!
Well we're here to tell you that "the heat is on". And if we don't do something now to change things, then eventually it will be too late. We don't want to wait until there is a crisis as in the Arizona immigration situation. We want to do the right things now, so that we can avoid this crisis which the eugenics-transhuman supporters are deliberately creating.
Once the crisis hits then we will be stuck with their solution. Haven't we already seen this recently with the economic crisis of 2008? Here we actually have a chance to stop this crisis from happening by opposing the eugenics-transhuman agenda. We must find alternatives to abortion, sterilization, artificial birth control. And AI, robotics, nanotech, biotech must be developed in a controlled and ethical way. Progress must not be allowed to continue to run helter-skelter out of control. Technology must serve humanity, not the other way around.
Interesting that Uma's character is named "Cassini", which I'm sure you know is also quite symbolic. Note the mention of astronaut, Sally Ride (mustang sally? lol)

ReplyDelete1 word = BRAVO!!
Giovanni Domenico Cassini was an Italian astronomer that discovered the moons of Saturn. This fits in with the plot which is about a trip to Saturn's Titan. However, Cassini was as much an astrologer as an astronomer. He was a living link between the occult astrology, and the scientific astronomy.
ReplyDeletehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giovanni_Domenico_Cassini
And now NASA seems to be intent on re-creating the link between the occult and the scientific when it comes to space exploration.
Orion's Belt Tied Around Freemason Astronauts
I was actually hoping that someone would ask about the role of Irene Cassini. I think that she and a few others at Gattaca were actually working for Eugene (the devil) as well. Does anyone have any thoughts on that?
Some reality-following-fiction news:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,269554,00.html
"Already, NASA is considering genetic screening in choosing crews on the long-duration missions. That is now prohibited."
This quote is from an article discussing longer term issues like death and sex on a manned mission to Mars. Once NASA opens the door for genetic screening then that will allow other organizations to justify genetic screening for their own reasons.
This is the way that hidden agendas are advanced. First find a corner case that the public will not object to. Once the public has been conditioned to accept the unacceptable, then the next step is taken. And after while the unthinkable becomes the normal. And the frogs (us) find themselves in boiling water.
I added a few links and corrected a few spelling errors. I also added a video of the "mustard seed song". Now why can't the music industry produce songs with themes like this?
ReplyDeleteThey can make anything they want look "cool" through their massive PR campaigns. What you see in the marketplace is not the result of demand from the public. It is "manufactured demand" and "manufactured consent". The music and film industries are little more than highly sophisticated drug pushers. They know how to trigger addictive reactions and attach to their products the vile messages that they want to infect our children with.

ReplyDeleteFor a totally contrasting review of Gattaca which interprets it as a Christian movie see this:
******
A Christian pastor told me something useful a long time ago, which I've never forgotten, when I was extolling the virtues of the Chronicles of Narnia L&WW as a lovely analogy about the story of salvation and Jesus Christ. He said, "Jesus doesn't need any analogies or to be hidden in another story so people will be receptive and understand it. The story is good enough as itself."
^This has been my rule of thumb in determining whether something truly is Christ-centered, (i.e. the whole debate about the Matrix, Neo does NOT represent Jesus/Christianity). If it's about Jesus, that will be made known without confusion. There will be no need to analyze and figure out what's what and who.
33 "For God is not the author of confusion..."
1 Corinthians 14:33 (KJV)
Blessings, D
You have a valid point there. Although C.S. Lewis specifically intended his work to be interpreted in a Christian way. And Jesus spoke in parables.
ReplyDeleteI personally saw some Christian symbolism in Avatar, while at the same time I understand that it is at the bottom a story about Transhumanism. (Jake uploads his mind-soul from his crippled human body into his super-human Avatar body.) I think it is best to be aware of both interpretations.
At the same time the occult groups take Christian symbolism, such as the Mass and turn it into satanic symbolism in the form of a Black Mass.
In a sense this is a war over who will control the Symbols, and therefore interpret them for the public. If we allow our Christian Symbols to be converted into Satanic Symbols then we have lost. Look at how the Nazis took the cross and converted it into a swastika by bending it and turning it at an angle. Look at how Freemasons pervert even the Bible.
Once our souls are cleansed with the blood of Christ, then we can go out and do battle. One of the great dangers is the creeping secularism in society which at first appears benign, but now can be seen to be actually a deceptive attack on religion in general and Christianity in particular.
one question: please tell me where the bible refers to satan as the "servant of humanity"?
ReplyDeleteAnonymous RE: "servant of humanity"
ReplyDeleteSorry for not being clear on that point. I was comparing the image of Aquarius the water bearer with the serpent in Revelation which "cast out of his mouth... water, as if it were a river".
I do have a feeling however that there might be some sort of similar reference in the bible to satan as the "servant of humanity". Not in those specific words, but in the sense that ultimately God's kingdom is not of this Earth, but is in Heaven. Can anyone help me out with a Bible quote here?
Also there is a growing realization that the age of Aquarius, also known as the new age, is a code name for the age of Lucifer or Satan or whatever you want to call the devil.
D - Yeah, I see what you're saying. Even if C.S. Lewis had good intent, certainly by the time Disney was done with it then it was turned completely into a tool to promote the occult worship. The more I learn about Disney, the more evil I realize they are. And that includes Walt and his brother Roy. I can't think of a single thing they did that was overtly Christian. Although they do have a great Christmas lights display at Disney World. :)
ReplyDeleteHi LVB and friends,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the write-up on Gattaca! Great job indeed! The helix staircase also reminds me of the DNA structure, kind of like the elite (Eugene) climbing up the genetic code ... maybe I'm reading too much into it. :p
Okay, am gonna read the rest of your other entries ...
Daniel - Absolutely, the staircase is the DNA structure. That is the first level of meaning. Most will not consciously observe that. But there are deeper levels of meaning. It also represents the snake coiled around the Tree in the Garden of Eden. This becomes clear when Eugene crawls (or slithers) up it on his belly.
ReplyDeleteI am beginning to learn to not stop at the first level of meaning and to dig deeper. I first had this revelation after watching Avatar when I began to realize how deep the layers of symbolism go. The ultimate level in Avatar is transhumanism as Jake transfers himself from his crippled human body to the super-human body of the Avatar.
This reflects the Nietzschan concept of the uber-mensch or superman. And what is truly amazing about propaganda like Avatar and Gattaca is that the audience is conditioned in such a way through the plot to applaud the efforts of the character representing the demonic forces. Notice that Jake and Eugene are both cripples to arouse our sympathies. And while the audience is led to believe that Vincent is the good part of the dual Vincent-Eugene character, he is actually the willing embodiment of evil.
So who is more evil, Vincent or Eugene? Vincent the "free-man" at least had a choice, while the devil could say that he has no choice but is simply playing the part that has been given to him by God.
OMG i just saw this movie the other day!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the different angle on it. I totally didnt think of it as a "demonic" movie but I cant deny, that ever since I first saw it back when it first came out, I had a bad feeling while watching. Its crazy how your intuitions work and its even crazier how life stumbles on "coincidences".
Thanks baba :)
Hi Natalie - Thanks! Oh, and Natalie I love it when people challenge my analysis of a movie, so if you found any stuff you disagree with please let me know.
ReplyDeleteYou may notice I stopped posting about movies and music videos. It got to the point where I couldn't watch them anymore. I began wondering what hidden messages I was unconsciously absorbing as I sat mindlessly being entertained. I just don't trust Hollywood movies anymore. (Sad, huh?)
I watched "Kingdom of Heaven" on DVD the other day and sure enough they had embedded an anti-Christian (specifically anti-Catholic) theme. And that was a movie that I would have considered safe, given the title.
I can almost understand the "humanist" (atheist) tendency in Hollywood of being anti-religion. That sort of fits in with the history of America which emphasizes separation of Church and State, and his based on liberal and secular ideas. But throwing in all the hidden satanic/demonic stuff seems like too much. I guess it's just another way to attack Christianity.
One thing I was just reading is something Thomas Paine wrote back in 1794. It's called "The Age of Reason". It's a direct attack on Christianity and the Bible. So this stuff is not exactly new. Thomas Paine you may recall also wrote "Common Sense" which was very influential in terms of gathering support for the American Revolution.
You can read about "Age of Reason" here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Age_of_Reason
Like many of the founders of America, Paine was a deist. Basically this means he believed in some sort of abstract creator God, but that's it. But that didn't stop him from creating a church. Basically that church, which we could call the Cult of Reason, has become the (un)official state church of America.
Paine was criticized by Sam Adams for writing Age of Reason:
http://www.deism.com/paine_essay_sam_adams.htm
It seems to me that Sam's real concern was that Paine was spilling the beans about the true beliefs of his fellow freemasons. Today in Hollywood we have a similar cult working to indoctrinate people in a subversive way.
No different angle here. Its just amazing because I was watching it about 2 weeks ago and when they were having the swimming race, I thought to myself - "what does he mean by 'getting to the other side?'". You totally cleared that up for me.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly how you feel about not watching. I've stopped listening to the radio and rarely watch TV. All the crap thats in entertainment is not worth my well being.
The attack on Christians is only going to get worse. I just pray to God that I and all the other Christians can be strong enough to deal with everything.
Again thanks for all the info. Paine was/is just a pawn the devil uses. Its interesting to read and hear what people's opinions are, but sometimes I wonder: have they NO intuitions whatsoever? I mean, I can definitely feel and hear a voice when something is wrong. Doesn't everyone?
Keep up the good work... Looking forward to your articles :)
Natalie - Thanks for your encouraging comments. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one that feels this way.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you mentioned "getting to the other side". That was something that came to me very late in my thought process. I thought it was significant, but had a slight doubt that maybe I had misinterpreted it.
It's funny how they throw in these little hints. They just throw in some little comment that doesn't make sense - and then the plot moves on and you forget about it. It would be easy to come to the conclusion that there is just a flaw in the plot, but deep down inside this contradiction is gnawing away at you.
It's also funny that none of the professional movie critics tend to pick up on this stuff. I searched for any reviews that agreed with these ideas and found none. The main stream reviews are mostly incredibly superficial. They will explore the very top level of symbolism and make it sound as if they have revealed some deep insight.
At the same time we're being fed sophisticated propaganda by Hollywood, we're also being "dumbed down" by the movie critics. Yikes! Should we throw the mainstream movie critics into the conspiracy? Yea, I think so. :)
